Align Southern Indiana (2001-current)
Align Southern Indiana (“ASI”) was developed to convene community and nonprofit leaders from across Southern Indiana. This new nonprofit is working to align community resources and implement solutions to better prepare our community for the future.
The ASI mission statement is, “To actively facilitate a shared regional process that will align resources, address needs and produce sustainable solutions resulting in our region achieving its potential as a best place to live, work and play.”
In the spring of 2017, over 100 leaders from the five county area – Clark, Floyd, Harrison, Scott and Washington Counties – came together to articulate a regional vision. Participants were asked to address the question: What needs to be in place for us to be successful as a region? The priorities identified through these strategy sessions are guiding the work of convening community stakeholders.
ASI’s focus areas are:
Economic and Talent Development
The current and future talent needs of the regional workforce will be met with the end result being high paying jobs, increased productivity and retention of talented graduates.
In integrated educational model, beginning with the cradle and continuing through career will meet the needs of our advancing community.
A unified, engaged and focused leadership creates efficiencies and provides an effective way to respond to the needs of its citizens.
Quality of Life
Through improving emotional, mental and physical health, citizens will live in a healthy and safe environment.
Quality of Place
Through enhancing the quality of place in our region, we will create an area that is attractive for economic development and inviting for citizens to live, work and play.
The Community Foundation of Southern Indiana has played an integral role in the initial planning of ASI and has provided grant funds to support the organization. Align Southern Indiana is led by a governing board and president and CEO, Dr. Rita Shourds. For more information on ASI please contact Dr. Rita Shourds at firstname.lastname@example.org.
