How We Help

The Community Foundation of Southern Indiana (CFSI) is a tax-exempt public charity that manages over $134 million in charitable assets and administers nearly 300 funds created by individuals, families, businesses and non-profit organizations – each of which supports the charitable intent of the donor who established the fund.

At CFSI, we’re proud to serve as a partner, resource, steward – allowing our donors to support their own unique charitable objectives in ways that are easy, flexible and meaningful. And, through the administration of charitable funds and distribution of grants, the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana supports the community and addresses Southern Indiana’s most pressing needs by providing grants and acting as a community leader.

Community Leader

The Community Foundation of Southern Indiana provides community leadership on important issues, bringing together the right people at the right time to accomplish incredible things.

We also partner with many other organizations to that impact our region. Programs and projects the CFSI has supported include Align Southern Indiana, Youth Philanthropy Council, Impact 100 Southern Indiana, installing emergency warning sirens throughout Clark and Floyd counties, March2Recovery, the Dolly Parton Imagination Library and the Homeless Coalition of Southern Indiana.

Grantor

Since 1991, the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana has granted more than $65 million in grants and scholarships, including $5 million from the Foundation’s unrestricted Community Impact Fund, which supports the most pressing needs of our region.

The Community Foundation also provides community grants to nonprofits that help address the highest priorities of Clark and Floyd counties. Last year, more than 100,000 people were helped through the nonprofits that received these grants! Using community resources such as the Community Needs Assessment, Nonprofit Resource Guide and Community Needs Maps, CFSI is identifying areas of greatest need and using our grant dollars to increase our impact in this community. We also work with individuals, families, businesses and other organizations to help them make grants from their funds to accomplish their own, unique charitable objectives.
