Community Foundation Awards More Than $805,000 in Scholarships to Local Students

Record 198 Individual Scholarships Support Clark & Floyd County Students

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The Community Foundation of Southern Indiana (CFSI) awarded $805,400 in scholarships to students throughout Clark and Floyd counties for the 2025-26 academic year, including a record-setting 198 individual scholarship awards to local high school graduates and current college students.

The total marks the highest number of individual scholarships ever awarded by the Foundation in a single year, reflecting the organization’s continued commitment to expanding educational opportunities and helping more students pursue higher education.

Since 1991, the Community Foundation has awarded approximately $11.2 million in scholarships to students throughout Southern Indiana.

“Every scholarship represents an investment in a student’s future and in the future of our community,” said Linda Speed, CFSI president and CEO. “We are incredibly proud to support nearly 200 students this year as they continue their educational journeys. With the rising costs associated with higher education and everyday life, these awards can make a meaningful difference for students and families working toward their goals.”

Approximately $241,000 of the total scholarship amount was awarded to four recipients of the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program, which supports students with full tuition, required fees, and funding for books and equipment for four years of full-time undergraduate study at any Indiana public or private nonprofit college or university.

Additional recipients include graduating seniors from area high schools, as well as students currently enrolled in colleges, universities, and trade programs. Scholarships were made possible through the generosity of donors who established funds to support education and create opportunities for future generations.

“We are grateful to the many donors, families, businesses, and community partners who make these scholarships possible year after year,” Speed said. “Their generosity continues to open doors for local students and creates lasting impact far beyond the classroom.”

Scholarship applications from students throughout the community were reviewed and scored by International Scholarship & Tuition Services, a trusted educational assistance program management partner with more than 40 years of experience administering scholarship programs nationwide.

The Community Foundation remains committed to growing scholarship opportunities throughout the region by building and stewarding endowment funds that support students with diverse educational goals and career paths.
