Six Nonprofits Receive Funding to Improve Community Spaces, Programs, and Essential Services

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – From expanding shelter services and strengthening nonprofit infrastructure to bringing free theatre to local parks and creating new spaces for children to play, the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana (CFSI) is continuing its investment in organizations that strengthen the region.

During the second quarter of Fiscal Year 2026, the Foundation awarded $28,855 in grants to six organizations serving communities across Southern Indiana. Collectively, the funded programs and projects are expected to impact more than 43,000 individuals throughout the region.

“These grants show just how much heart our local nonprofits put into Southern Indiana every day,” said Linda Speed, CFSI President and CEO. “Whether they’re reinforcing essential services or sparking new opportunities for families and the arts, these organizations are doing the vital work that keeps our communities thriving.”

Community Assist Grants were awarded to:

Expansion of a water line to increase the capacity of the shelter’s water service

Exousia Ministries ($5,000)

Together, the projects supported through this round of grantmaking will help expand services, improve facilities, and create new opportunities for residents throughout Southern Indiana.

“The strength of our region comes from the organizations working every day to meet needs and bring people together,” Speed said. “We’re grateful to partner with them, as well as the generous donors who make this work possible.”
