Local Nonprofits Awarded Critical Funding from Community Foundation of Southern Indiana

Eight organizations in Kentuckiana receive $56,000 in total grant funding

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The Community Foundation of Southern Indiana (CFSI) has awarded eight local nonprofits a total of $56,281.72 through its Community Assist and Capacity Building grants programs. These quarterly grants support organizations in Clark and Floyd counties that are working to strengthen the region and improve quality of life for residents.

CFSI’s Capacity Building Grants Program focuses on improving an organization’s operating capacity so it can continue to provide essential services to the community. The program supports strategic planning, staff development, and operational improvements designed to ensure long-term sustainability.

This quarter’s Capacity Building Grant recipients include:

Catalyst Rescue Mission

$7,295

Develop a three-year strategic plan to guide the organization’s efforts to end homelessness in Southern Indiana.

Choices Life Resource Center

$15,520

Expand marketing efforts and train staff and volunteers for its parenting education program, enhancing outreach to families in need.

Goodwill Education Initiatives, Inc.

$15,000

Purchase classroom technology and assessment tools that strengthen early childhood development and parent-teacher engagement at the Children’s Learning Center.

The Foundation’s Community Assist Grants fund smaller, one-time requests to help nonprofits positively impact the communities they serve. This quarter’s Community Assist Grant recipients include:

Center for Lay Ministries

$5,000

Purchase food for the Center’s Food Pantry, which served more than 16,800 clients in 2024.

Floyd County Community Corrections

$1,004.92

Equip surveillance officers with radios to improve safety during home visits in the community.

Junior Achievement of Kentuckiana

$5,000

Deliver financial literacy and career readiness programs to 500 students across Clark and Floyd counties.

Our Place Drug and Alcohol Education Services

$2,525

Update iPads and computers that support the organization’s electronic health records system and treatment programs.

St. John Divine Pure Gospel Church

$4,936.80

Support the Jeffersonville NAACP Youth Council’s Community Supply Closet, which provides free hygiene and household essentials to local residents.

Funding for these grants is made possible through the Foundation’s Community Impact Fund, which is currently eligible for a $2-for-$1 matching opportunity through the Lilly Endowment’s GIFT VIII initiative through Dec. 31, 2025.
