Community Foundation President & CEO Linda Speed Named 2026 IU Southeast Chancellor’s Medallion Honoree

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Linda Speed, President and CEO of the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana (CFSI), has been selected as a recipient of Indiana University Southeast’s 2026 Chancellor’s Medallion, the highest honor awarded by the university.
Speed will be recognized alongside Jim Epperson, Executive Director of SoIN Tourism, during the Chancellor’s Medallion Dinner, which takes place April 11, 2026, at Huber’s Orchard and Winery in Borden.
The Chancellor’s Medallion honors individuals who have rendered distinguished service to IU Southeast and the community; who have promoted human welfare and well-being; and who, through integrity, leadership, and commitment, serve as role models for students and alumni. To date, 63 of these awards have been presented.
“Receiving the Chancellor’s Medallion is an incredible honor, and I’m humbled to be recognized alongside so many other inspiring leaders,” said Speed. “This award is not just a reflection of my work, but of the commitment of our donors, board, and staff at the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana. Together, we are helping build a stronger future for our community, and I’m grateful every day to be part of that work.”
During her 15 years leading CFSI, Speed has guided extraordinary growth for the Foundation, with assets increasing from $16 million to more than $160 million. Under her leadership, the Foundation now awards over $6 million annually in grants and scholarships, serving both local nonprofits and regional initiatives that improve the quality of life in Clark and Floyd counties. Her career spans nearly 25 years in the community foundation field, paired with decades of service on regional and statewide nonprofit boards.
In addition to her leadership at CFSI, Speed has been active in advancing philanthropy and community development across the region. She has served on the boards of the Indiana Philanthropy Alliance, Align Southern Indiana, and the Louisville Zoo Foundation, among others. Her professional and civic contributions have earned recognition from organizations including One Southern Indiana and Louisville Business First.
“I have seen firsthand how Linda’s leadership has positively impacted our Clark and Floyd County communities,” said Greg Nash, board chair of the Community Foundation. “This recognition from IU Southeast is a fitting acknowledgment of her vision, integrity, and commitment to making Southern Indiana a better place for all.”
Proceeds from the Chancellor’s Medallion Dinner will benefit the Chancellor’s Medallion Scholarship program, which supports IU Southeast students. For information, to purchase tickets for the event, please contact the IU Southeast Office of Development at (812) 941-2464.
