Community Foundation Surpasses $900K in Scholarships to Local Students

Record 167 Scholarships Awarded to Clark & Floyd Co. Students
NEW ALBANY, Ind. – Behind a record-breaking 167 scholarships, the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana (CFSI) awarded a total of $908,273 in support of Clark and Floyd County students. Recipients include the high school graduating class of 2025, as well as current college enrollees. It also marks the most scholarship awards the organization has allocated in a single year.
“We are very thankful for the generosity of our fundholders, and Lilly Endowment, Inc. for continuing their contributions towards the success of future generations of students throughout Clark and Floyd counties,” said Linda Speed, president and CEO of the Community Foundation. “With increasing educational costs around the globe, these scholarships will provide an invaluable resource to help these students pursue their goals and become our community’s leaders.”
Approximately $376,000 of the total scholarship amount was awarded to four recipients of the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program, which provides funding for full tuition, required fees, and a special allocation for required books and equipment for four years of undergraduate study on a full-time basis, leading to a baccalaureate degree at any Indiana public or private nonprofit college.
“The Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship not only shows the payoff for all my hard work, perseverance and diligence throughout my high school career, but it also lifts a massive weight from my shoulders on the financial aspect of my future education,” said Isaiah Green, a New Albany High School graduate and 2025 Lilly Scholarship recipient. “I cannot thank the Lilly Endowment, committee members, and the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana enough for blessing me in such a major way.”
Scholarship applications from students throughout the community were reviewed and scored by International Scholarship & Tuition Services (ISTS), which has been an industry expert and a trusted educational assistance program management partner for organizations for the last 35 years.
