March 2 Recovery (2012-2013)

Following the devastating storms that swept through our region on March 2,IMG_0133 2012, the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana staff visited the impacted areas and began working with community leaders and relief organizations. To determine the greatest needs of the affected communities, the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana partnered with other organizations, like March2Recovery, to help rebuild and assist in the long-term recovery efforts.

With the help of our community – and that of local, national, and even international contributions – the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana received hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations to our Disaster Relief Fund.

When the last door was hung, the Community Foundation granted over $325,000 to assist with the long term recovery’s rebuilding efforts and our staff volunteered hundreds of hours of time – working hand-in-hand with various groups and organizations – assist with rebuilding efforts. By doing so, we ensured that 100% of the Disaster Relief Fund donations were given back to the community in meaningful and impactful ways.
