Four generations of the Douglas family have received services from Metro United Way agencies. And the Douglas' two sons attended Our Lady of Providence Junior/Senior High School, which sculpted them into responsible young men who are each contributing to society in their own ways. So when it comes time to give back, those charities benefit from the Douglas' generosity. But just giving during their lifetime isn't enough for the Douglas family. They decided to leave part of their estate to create a fund with the Community Foundation and appoint their sons as advisors to the funds. That way, their annual gifts to both organizations can continue long past their lifetime. Mike, a retired banker, especially likes that their fund will be professionally managed by the staff of the Foundation and its board. "You can have confidence that the money you put there is being managed by good stewards," Douglas says. "Your gift can go on forever."

Welcome to the web site for the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana. As a Community Foundation, our mission is to hold and grow charitable funds for people, businesses, charities, churches and other organizations. As the funds grow, the proceeds can be given to charities and charitable projects. Those gifts can go on forever as we preserve and grow the initial gift. We do other things, too, like teach valuable skills to non-profits, work with professional advisors and provide leadership on key community issues. Want to know more? Spend some time with us here. Read real people’s stories about how the Community Foundation has helped them. Watch a video that tells our story. Donate to any of our charitable funds. And talk to us–how can we help you give back?
