Seven years ago, Dora LaDuke was diagnosed with leukemia. Friends and family reached out to lend support and friendship. To show their appreciation to the community, the LaDuke family started a fund with the Community Foundation. The LaDukes plan to gradually add to it during their lives and from their estate. One day, their daughter will be in charge of giving out grants from this fund. “Setting up a fund like this is like throwing a pebble into a pond,” Dora says. “The ripple effects just go on and on. What an awesome way to make this world a better place for our children, mine and yours, in the future. Every single moment counts – believe me, I know and am so thankful to be here today to be able to say that."
