Seven years ago, Dora LaDuke was diagnosed with leukemia. Friends and family reached out to lend support and friendship. To show their appreciation to the community, the LaDuke family started a fund with the Community Foundation. The LaDukes plan to gradually add to it during their lives and from their estate. One day, their daughter will be in charge of giving out grants from this fund. “Setting up a fund like this is like throwing a pebble into a pond,” Dora says. “The ripple effects just go on and on. What an awesome way to make this world a better place for our children, mine and yours, in the future. Every single moment counts – believe me, I know and am so thankful to be here today to be able to say that | |
Welcome to the web site for the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana. As a Community Foundation, our mission is to hold and grow charitable funds for people, businesses, charities, churches and other organizations. As the funds grow, the proceeds can be given to charities and charitable projects. Those gifts can go on forever as we preserve and grow the initial gift. We do other things, too, like teach valuable skills to non-profits, work with professional advisors and provide leadership on key community issues. Want to know more? Spend some time with us here. Read real people’s stories about how the Community Foundation has helped them. Watch a video that tells our story. Donate to any of our charitable funds. And talk to us–how can we help you give back?
