Gold Leaf Volunteer Luncheon
Charitable organizations in Clark, Floyd and Harrison counties have a great opportunity to honor their dedicated volunteers at the Community Foundation of Southern Indiana’s Gold Leaf Volunteer Luncheon on Friday, June 4.
Each school, place of worship or charity in those three counties, which are the Foundation’s service area, are invited to honor one person at the event. This is the Community Foundation’s 11th such annual event.
All volunteers submitted for the award will be honored at the event. Each volunteer honored with receive free admission to the event and a gold-leaf lapel pin, and will have their photograph printed in a keepsake program booklet and in an announcement in area newspapers.
Area organizations have until April 30th, a firm deadline, to submit their volunteers for the award. Charities, schools and places of worship will be mailed a brochure outlining the event and inviting them to submit nominations during the week of March 29. Anyone associated with these organizations are invited to attend, whether or not they recognize or honor a volunteer. The luncheon
This year’s Gold Leaf luncheon will be held at Northside Christian Church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, June 4. Tickets are $18 each. While the honoree’s ticket is free, others accompanying the person who is being honored must pay for their tickets. Recognition information must be received in the Foundation’s office by April 30. Additional reservations may be submitted by May 26.
The Community Foundation, which created the event to support charities in recognizing their volunteers, expects at least 400 people this year, including honorees from nearly 60 organizations.
“Volunteers are the backbones of many charities, and we’re happy to be able to provide a forum for these organizations to take the time to publicly recognize their good work,” said Melissa Weissinger, program officer for the Community Foundation.

Gold Acorn Volunteer Luncheon
The Gold Acorn Volunteer Luncheon honors teen volunteers. The event was held on April 11, 2009. The luncheon is held annually each spring.
